What to Bring to the Sale

• Properly labeled books – use WHITE cover stock, on LANDSCAPE setting, black ink only, on normal printing setting not best quality. Attach tags to items with BLUE Painters Tape… do not tape over barcoding. Full barcoding instructions. Full manual labeling instructions.
• If you are bar-coding – your inventory list.
• You should be already registered for CHEC 2012. If not you are not registered, you will need to fill out a registration form, and pay the registration fee before you can drop off your books.
• Self-Addressed, stamped envelope to the sale so that we can mail you your check.

The Strong-Willed Parent  - One only has to listen to discover the heart of a child. Our goal as parents and teachers is to reach the heart, rather than simply realign behavior.  Too often, we depend on rules as the primary enforcer of behavior. Rules can change behavior, but they can’t change the heart. When parents and teachers begin to discern the difference between character flaws and purposeful disobedience, they will implement a gentler approach to reaching and understanding their children.  As a result, children will more willingly admit their faults and seek help from those they love. Children need to hear the beating of our hearts rather than the beating of our voices.  Join Mark as he relates his experience as a shepherd and the important lesson that you don’t become a shepherd just because you own sheep.

Would you like to sell your used curriculum and books at the Book Blast?

The BOOK Blast is a non-profit, volunteer used curriculum sale held in conjunction with the Coastal Home Educators Conference at Community Bible Church in Beaufort, SC. It is undertaken each year as a ministry to the coastal homeschooling community.

You do not need to be a member of Community Bible Church or of CBCCA in order to be a BOOK Blast participant. However, there is an additional 10% processing fee for all non-CBCCA members.

Whether you wish to buy or sell, each participant must register for the conference.

This includes entry into Friday and Saturday’s CHEC including the BOOK Blast, Vendor Hall, Keynote  and all workshops. We hope that you will choose this year to go to our informative workshops and be encouraged by fellow homeschoolers in addition to getting great deals on curriculum!

How Do I Become a Seller?

After you register for the conference you can click here to register as a seller. You are not required to register for the conference in order to start entering your items online, but you will not be an official seller until you have registered for the conference.

What Can I Sell at CHEC?

Our focus is on curriculum, curriculum, curriculum. In addition, readers of all kinds, math manipulatives, science stuff and educational supplemental materials are a must! Bibles, devotionals and educational aids are also welcome.

Keep in mind this not a yard sale, but a place to sell the kinds of things YOU will be looking for to use in your own homeschool next year!

At CHEC our mission is to encourage all homeschoolers, but keep in mind we are a Christian homeschooling group. We will not be able to sell items that conflict with our Christian values. Please use discretion.

What are the Selling Instructions? 

After you are registered as a seller, books and materials must be properly labeled. We have two methods for labeling items:

Bar Coding Labeling

This system enables sellers to easily track sales. It also streamlines the sale for buyers and sellers. Added bonus? You will get your money back much more quickly!

You may also manually label your books. There is an additional 10% processing fee for using the manual system. If you are also a non-CBCCA member there is a cap on the processing fee so you will not be charged an additional 10% fee.

When do I drop off my books?

Wednesday June 6th – from 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Thursday June 7th – from 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

Where do I drop off my books?

• You must use the FRONT ENTRANCE of the CBC Children’s Building that faces Parris Island Gateway. We will have signs directing you.
• Do not enter through the back of the building or the Atrium, as we will not carry books up to the BOOK Blast Area for you.

What do I need to bring with me to the book drop off?

• Properly labeled books.
• You should be already registered for CHEC 2012. If not you are not registered, you will need to fill out a registration form, and pay the registration fee before you can drop off your books.
• Self-Addressed, stamped envelope to the sale so that we can mail you your check.

What happens to my books after the sale?

On Saturday from 1:30 – 2:30 pm you must come pick up your unsold books.

We have no place to store unsold books. Make arrangements with a friend or come yourself to get your unsold books. It will be your responsibility to check and see if you have books left over.

** Veteran tip! Many sellers will share this responsibility with another seller. One will drop off books and the other will stay and pick up. However you choose to it, you must make sure you make arrangements to pick up your books.

Items not picked up by Saturday at 2:30 will be donated to CHEC.

What if I have stuff I want to give away? 

We have a area for free items in the Atrium located between the Children’s Building and the Main Building. Please DO NOT drop off free items in the BOOK Blast area. You can drop off items in the Atrium anytime during BOOK Blast drop off times or during the conference until Saturday morning at 10:00 am.

NEW for this year – Barcoding Services from Sheryl Duffy!

Don’t have time to enter your books/items in the barcode system but still would like to have your books barcoded.  I am offering my services to enter your books/items into our barcode system for a small fee of a $1.00 a sheet.  Up to 8 tags are printed on a sheet, so if you have 24 items, that would be $3.00.  If you have 27 items, if would cost $4.00.  You would need to register/create an account in our barcode system.  Also, I would need a list of your items with pricing, Title, Description, if it is a bundle/set of items and how many are in the set, age/grade levels if applicable and whether you want it discounted on the 2nd day of the sale and if you would like it donated at the end of the sale.  For more info, Call 812-2820 or email duffydsr@gmail.com.

When your local book sale is over – bring your leftovers to sell at our conference! Book Drop-Off  –  June 6th and 7th. Find a group from your area who is willing to drive down to drop off and someone else can bring back the items that don’t sell on the 9th.

Whether you are a returning seller or a new seller you will be entered in the drawing! Everyone who has registered for this year’s sale through Saturday May 5th will be entered in this week’s drawing.

BOOKBlast Bucks are as good as cash in the BOOK Blast Used Curriculum Sale.

Remember that all BOOKBlast Sellers must be registered for 2012 CHEC, but you can get rolling on entering your books today!

When you buy and sell used, you save money and bless others too. You may start coding your books as soon as you want, but you must be registered for the conference when you drop your books off for the sale.

Used curriculum sales like this enable families to be able to afford to give their children a high quality education at home.

Would you like to sell your used curriculum and books at the Book Blast?
