Tim Bryant of Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center Speaking at CHEC!

After Ellie passed away, my good friend Denise invited me to join her at a 15 week class, Transformed by Truth  in Charleston at Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center. I can’t tell you how much the teaching ministered to my heart, as Tim Bryant walked through topics such as Unity in Conflict, Grief, Suffering and Gaining a Transforming View of Christ.  What makes LBCC different is that the approach is strictly from the Bible , stripped from the philosophy of our day.

We are so pleased that Tim Bryant will be coming to CHEC this year. I know that you will find his teaching very helpful and applicable as you seek to grow as moms, dads and homeschoolers. Register today!

In 2003, in partnership with the Biblical Counseling Center in Arlington Heights, Illinois, the Lowcountry Biblical Counseling Center was birthed to help pastors and churches in the Charleston area  As a pastor for over ten years, I can testify to the intense burden and responsibility pastors carry for the people of God.  This is especially felt at times when beloved parishioners are experiencing intense conflicts and crises.  My formal counseling training is from the Master’s College (MABC) and am certified by the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors and the International Association of Biblical Counselors.  My philosophy of counseling and change has been influenced by counselors such as  Dr David Powlison, Dr Stuart Scott, Dr Wayne Mack, and Dr Jay Adams.

LCBCC does not seek to replace the body of Christ, but seeks the body of Christ to replace LCBCC through training, certifying, and mentoring God’s people to counsel one another biblically under the oversight of their local church (Rom 15:14; Col 3:16; Heb 10:24-25; Heb 3:12-13; 1Thes 5:14; Eph 4:15; Gal 6:1-2). There are three primary vehicles we use to assist the local pastor and churches in fulfillment of this mission: 1) biblical counseling, 2) biblical counseling training, and 3) resources.

High School Constitution Class Sat – Included with your CHEC Registration!

High School Constitution Class Sat – Included with your CHEC Registration! 585_constitution-1

The Coastal Home Educators Conference - June 13th – 15th is so excited to offer this important class for high school students. Adults will also thoroughly enjoy it!

Bob Menges is teaching the five part course on Saturday. It is open to high school students and adults and is included for high school students and adults with your family registration. “The times in which we live make it imperative that we understand how our government is supposed to function under the Federal Constitution. The Bible commands us to take “every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Cor 10:5). Unfortunately, for far too many Christians today, the last thing they think about when it comes to spiritual things is their government and the United States Constitution.

In these five sessions I will discuss first lay the groundwork for looking at government through the lens of the Bible and how we can bring glory to God as we pursue an understanding of our nation’s history from a Biblical Worldview. We will trace the providential hand of God from the time of the Reformation up through the ratification of the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

In order for us to develop our Christian Worldview of government and our understanding of the linkage of that worldview to our government, it is imperative for us to understand the truth about history and make the Biblical connection to the truths about limited government under the Rule of Law (United States Constitution). These sessions are not simply another talk or class about history and government; this is about developing an in-depth understanding of this subject from a Biblical Worldview in order to bring Glory to God with our thoughts and actions concerning our government.”

So take this opportunity to register today! The cost for CHEC is $12.00 per couple and includes Friday, Saturday, entrance into the BOOK Blast and all workshops.  All of your school aged children 18 years old and under are included with your admission.  In addition, an Intro to Homeschooling Workshop is also available for $5.00 per person on Thursday June 13th

From Sheryl Duffy:

The school year is almost to an end and the Book Blast is only 2 months away, Jun 14th & 15th. Some of you may already be planning out next year and some of you may be just happy that this year is at an end. Either case, you may already have some books that you are planning to get rid of.

Attached are instructions to create an account and enter items to barcode and sell at the book blast. If you have sold at the book blast before, there are also instructions to transfer non-sold items to the new sale.

Not sure about this entering items stuff but still would like to do it, contact me and we can meet after Wednesday night service and I’ll give you a quick class.

If you would still like the benefits of barcoding your items but don’t have the time to enter them into the system, below is a link with the instructions for my services to enter items for you.

Interested in helping send Maddie to the Guild?

Mark Hamby of Lamplighter Publishers met an incredible young woman in our church fellowship while here for the Coastal Home Educators Conference. The Lamplighter Guild is interested in having Maddie Mansell come to study this summer. A little background on Maddie – she is adopted from Ethiopia. She loves the Lord and is active in Debate.

What is the Lamplighter Guild?

An unforgettable week of learning with masters of the dramatic and visual arts.

An entrepreneurial platform whereby masters will inspire a high level of excellence which uniquely reflects the image of God.

Masters of their trades will be instructing students in sound design, script writing, oil painting, and many other creative disciplines.

July 15-20, 2012

Read below what Mark Hamby said about Maddie -

“While talking with her I was very impressed by her story and believe that if she can study under these great Masters at the Guild, she will be significantly prepared and passionately motivated to use her gifts for the Kingdom of God. We are prepared to offer Maddie a $800 scholarship. The total cost is $1950. Is there any way that you or someone in the CHEC organization can help to make this need an opportunity known. I really believe that this girl should attend. God has His hand upon her.”

Mark Hamby and the Guild has offered her a $800.00 scholarship. The total cost is $1950.00 and the Mansells would also need to get her there.

If you can help Maddie to take advantage of this opportunity would you consider helping sponsor her?

There are two ways….

1) Contact the Mansells at mansellcrew@gmail.com (Mark and Sharon Mansell) or 2) make a purchase from Lamplighter using the code guild71 and a portion of the money will go towards Maddie’s tuition.

I personally will be contributing… and I hope that many of you will too.

If you know of someone who may be interested in helping, please share this post with them as well.

Thanks!

Charlotte Cushman
